Why WETA
Since its formation in 1981, the West End Traders Association has worked effectively but quietly as the voice of local small business. It has lobbied governments behind the scenes —at State and Council level—to ensure that the interests of local business are not forgotten.
Since its formation in 1981, the West End Traders Association has worked effectively but quietly as the voice of local small business. It has lobbied governments behind the scenes —at State and Council level—to ensure that the interests of local business are not forgotten.
The Association has acted as a sounding board and reference group for major development applications in the area, and has had considerable input into local planning and zoning decisions.
On a more personal level, the monthly meetings of the Association have proved an ideal venue for the local business community to meet informally, discuss issues, resolve differences and decide upon a common response to the problems of the day.

INCREASED LIAISON WITH OTHER GROUPS

There has always been a free exchange of information, news and views between the West End Traders Association, South Bank Business Association and Gabba Business Associations. Last year, however, saw the commencement of regular, formal meetings of the three groups to work out common policies on issues affecting the Kurilpa Peninsula as a whole.
